Local motion

Posted on 12:15 AM by fdgdfg

Sight seeing Tecate and V.Gallo billboards.
Yesterday, I attended SPUR's young urbanists series: [Blogging] in the City. I was interested in learning about SPUR as well as checking out what the local people behind the blogs/writings/photography around this beautiful city had to say.

A gathering with different points of views, Q&A's and putting a face to a site, not only the ones below, but many other local people. Nice to meet you all. Cheers!

North The West Evening Ride

Posted on 12:50 AM by fdgdfg

I am. And very happy about that.
These are from a quick solo ride, up and around the north-west-end of the city. This is San Francisco, and San Francisco has massive hills and I love them. Of course there's always way to cheat them and go around them, but sometimes is fun to go out to the city's greenest miles and just get lost. Middle-ride coffee pit stop was mandatory. Loving the late sunsets.

Hello headlands. You're next.

Mission Bike tour

Posted on 12:35 AM by fdgdfg

Where was the city's first amusement park located? What street did the railroad run down? Which park sits upon a disinterred Jewish Cemetery? These questions and so many more will be answered on the Mission's Secret History Bike Tour. /Excerpt from chain of events -sfbike.org

The Mission's Secret History Bike Tour met at the corner of Dolores Park on 18th this past Saturday. It was a gorgeous day and it was a pretty good size group on wheels. We learned very cool details about the Mission historic landmarks and some great information about specific spots dating pre-1905 earthquake. Such things, can always be learned in local history books but a group of bicycles and a good tour guide always enhances the experience to the next level.

and the usual le suspect.

Learning about the first SF amusement park 1866-1892
NO. 454 WOODWARD'S GARDENS - R. B. Woodward opened his gardens to the public in 1866 as an amusement park catering to all tastes, and it remained San Francisco's most popular resort until it closed in 1892. The Gardens once occupied the block bounded by Mission, Duboce, Valencia, and 14th Streets, the main entrance was on Mission. Location: SW corner of Mission and Duboce Sts, San Francisco. /From: CERES State Historical Landmarks for San Francisco County

Posted on 12:25 AM by fdgdfg

Of course I was paying close attention to the tour. I didn't notice all the bags and packs varities until I was uploading the pictures. Mostly guys, that is just a coincidence, really.

Do not try this at home.

Posted on 12:20 AM by fdgdfg

My beloved is somewhere in there.
We ended up 'cutting' the tour a tad short, which IIIIIIIII wasn't too happy about. 4 vs. me, I typically would have not given in, but whatever... I guess food sounded good -insert not so convincing tone here-
As we were figuring out where to wonder off to for food, my favorite local stuff-maker-myth-destroyer master was right there(!) I'm a HUGE fan and have been shy enough in past encounters around the city to ask for a photo, but since we are on a why not? kick, here we are. Super awesome!! and no, the bikes did not explode.

It was a pleasure to meet you!!!

Happy Friday! Glass act.

Posted on 12:36 AM by fdgdfg
These are all from the last few weeks or so. Waiting for a friend, after work or locking bikes Etc. Glass is my analog skill. All straight from the camera, no editing. Actually I don't edit any of the pictures for this blog, as I consider it purely for fun. Except for maybe a rare occasional crop. Anyways.
Go ride your bike & have a great weekend everybody. Enjoy!
